About Pink Reed Books

WHO WE ARE

Pink Reed Books is an independent children’s publishing imprint founded by Silpa Kona, a South Asian, first-generation immigrant author and publisher based in Oregon. We publish high-quality picture books and middle-grade fiction that center environmental stewardship, cultural representation, and community engagement.

Our books are created for children, families, educators, and institutions seeking stories that are both meaningful and accessible, stories that reflect diverse lived experiences while inviting young readers to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to publish culturally rooted, nature-forward children’s literature that amplifies underrepresented voices and empowers young readers to see themselves as curious explorers, thoughtful citizens, and active participants in their communities. Our books are created for children, families, educators, and institutions seeking stories that are both meaningful and accessible, stories that reflect diverse lived experiences while inviting young readers to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

OUR VISION

We envision a children’s publishing landscape where diverse perspectives are not peripheral, but foundational. Pink Reed Books aims to contribute to this future by building a sustainable, mission-driven catalog of stories that foster empathy, environmental awareness, and cross-cultural understanding—without sacrificing craft, humor, or joy.
